Obituary for Angela Marie Schaad

Angela Marie Schaad, my mama, was a survivor. She survived a poor upbringing, foster care, emancipation and earning her GED shortly after giving birth to me at age 16.

In addition to surviving, my mother persisted and conquered. She conquered earning her associates degree from Wayne College, where I would go with her and watch her learn.

She conquered her career starting out as the secretary for Wayne County Municipal Court and earning the title of Chief of Probation in 2015.

She was passionate about her work of helping others, always striving to provide more. Most recently she secured a $250,000 grant for increased quantity and quality of services provided.

She was dedicated to her family, including her dogs, a trait she passed along to me.

My mother fought cancer for over a year, so courageously. Her lessons, her tremendous love, her kindness and her sassiness will forever be a part of me. I couldn't have imagined a more perfect mother and best friend.

Her essence will continue to reside in the people she knew including her husband, Walt Calame, her chosen family, Mary Mayes, her friends, co-workers, and all those whom have interacted with her.

Your fierceness is undeniable. There is no doubt you conquered this life. Everything I am, I owe to you. I love you mama.

Please join us for a celebration of her life at JAFB, 120 Beall Ave. in Wooster on Sunday, January 27th from 1 - 4 p.m..

In lieu of flowers, please do a random act of kindness in her honor.
